When Gentile arrived at football practice for Jackson in the fall of 1981, something in his wild imagination told him he could be the starting QB; What he didn't realize is that after watching Ron Walters and the late David Paden make their runs for the job, I was thrown into the hot seat after a Raines defeat a year prior, and I never looked back. Fast-forward to the game against Orange Park, losing 40-43 with:54 seconds left in the game, put our Tiger Offense in the spotlight for the second time with Gentile catching 9 passes for over 200 yards, and a pair of touchdowns. He and I had perfected our combo/craft over the off season, so it was befitting to not only have him as one of my primary targets, but a good all around friend as well. He will be greatly missed especially by the 1983 group of Tigers that decided to win games after my departure to Bethune Cookman. As this upcoming Tiger Football Season begins, I would like to see it dedicated to RG#11; RIP my backside target,
